Living Here is a Smart Choice

Living in the mid-south has a certain pace. It comes with easy "Hellos" and an inclusive "y’all". It has a certain intense color found in the pink azaleas of Spring and trees ablaze in color to warm the crisp Fall air. It’s a 4th of July picnic under fireworks on the Mississippi River bank or around the bandstand at Germantown’s Municipal Park. Living here is sunshine more than rain. We enjoy living here. And invite you to do the same.

Living in the Memphis area has certain other advantages, too:

Homes cost less here than in many other areas of the US and abroad and can be found in a variety of neighborhoods. Whether your preference is urban, suburban, or rural; new towns or historic districts, you’ll be at home in Memphis. Ask about Harbor Town, Central Gardens, Chickasaw Gardens, or Schilling Farms but there are numerous options.

Food simply taste great here. For foodies, there simply is no better place to eat. We feature award-winning barbecue from the Rendezvous, Corky’s and the Commissary to name just a few. And wonderful favorites like the Beauty Shop, Huey’s, Soul Fish, Paulette’s and Au Fond for those who want to keep it local.

There is plenty of fun. If you’re looking for something to do, there is music from Beale Street to Madison and South Main to the GPAC. Sports fans have plenty to cheer about here too. We’re celebrating the 10th year of our NBA Grizzlies, still enjoying league winning MLB St. Louis Cardinal’s affiliate the Redbirds, and our nationally ranked University of Memphis Tigers basketball. There are other big league events here including the TPC Classic at Southwind and the tennis professionals’ tour at the Racquet Club.

There’s room to stretch your legs or fly a kite. If you’re about wide-open spaces you enjoy living in Memphis for its large array of public parks including the largest metro area park in the country Shelby Farms and midtown's Overton Park, home of the renowned Memphis Zoo.

But don’t take my word for it. You’ll find evidence of Memphis pride from Facebook to blogs and websites. Consider visiting I Am Memphis Pretty on Facebook, the I Love Memphis Blog on Twitter, or the Spirit of Memphis website. You’ll learn to love this place, too.

Yes, it’s smart to live here. And it will be our pleasure to show you around.
