At Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS, we know that giving back to Memphis makes it an even better place to call home. Our real estate agents love finding ways to support, volunteer, and raise awareness for the many wonderful charitable organizations in town. Here are a few of our favorite projects:
Brewster Elementary School
Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS adopted Brewster Elementary School in 2011 to help teachers and students in need. Every year since 2011, we have donated backpacks filled with school supplies to help kids start their new school year. Another project is the uniform drive, where we donated uniforms to 120 children in need.
Both the backpacks and the uniforms are efforts to reduce truancy at the school and to raise excitement and pride among the students as they head back to school.
Boys & Girls Clubs
Have you met beautiful Beatrice Bensdorf, our new M-B mascot? She is collecting new and gently used coats. This is our part of a MAAR project to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. The Boys and Girls Club serve a very important purpose in improving the future of youth in our community.
Beatrice hopes all her M-B buddies will participate by donating at least one coat, suitable for a 6-18 year old, or by making a contribution. Checks can be made payable to Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Beatrice will be leaving with our coats and donations on October 17, 2016.
Children's Museum of Memphis
Since 2013, Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS has served as sponsor for the Children's Museum of Memphis' annual fundraising drive. We are proud to raise awareness of and support for the Children's Museum, as they need these vital funds for daily operations, new exhibits, and exciting programs for kids.
The Children's Museum of Memphis is a family favorite in Memphis, and we encourage you to support them today!
Fight On Team
Our beloved agent, Teri Trotter has been battling breast cancer for several years. Her fellow agent, Margaret Burke, is spearheading our "Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS Team Teri Trotter." This team will participate in the Fight On: Cycle. Run. Walk. fundraising event, benefitting the University of Tennessee/West Institute for Cancer Research.

The Jerome Rosengarten Memorial Scholarship
Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS agent Sheldon Rosengarten and his wife Shelli fund this scholarship, awarded annually to a law student at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. The scholarship is named for Sheldon's father, Jerome, who practiced law in Memphis for 57 years. The recipient of the scholarship must be a law student whose focus is in real estate law.
The 2016 Jerome Rosengarten Scholarship was awarded to Stephanie Less Berish.
Literacy Mid-South provides literacy resources for people of all ages and backgrounds, who are low-literate and seeking to improve their reading skills. Assisting more than 500 Memphians, Literacy Mid-South serves our community through the power of reading and learning.
Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS has partnered with Literacy Mid-South to host a fantastic annual event, Literatini. For the 2016 event, Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS served as the presenting sponsor. Literatini is an evening of food, cocktails, an auction, and live music, held at one of our favorite local bookstores, the Booksellers at Laurelwood. Stay tuned for details for the 2017 event!
MIFA Food Drive
Starting in 2010, Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS began contributing donations to the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA). MIFA supports the independence of vulnerable seniors and families in crisis. Through the food drive, our real estate agents are able to collect pantry items and monetary donations for MIFA.
If you are interested in donating items or money to MIFA, contact your Marx-Bensdorf real estate agent to find out more.
Memphis Institute for Leadership Education (MILE)
For the past 10 years, Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS agent Diane Benson Malkin has actively served as a mentor and advisory board member with the Memphis Institute for Leadership Education (MILE) Program. MILE is a mentoring and leadership development program for Fogelman College of Business and Economics students at the University of Memphis. The program is designed to develop future Mid-South leaders through educational lectures, job shadowing, practice interviews, networking events, community service and more.

The Pink Wig Project
Started by Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS real estate agent Teri Trotter, the Pink Wig Project provides wigs to cancer surviors at no charge. After her own diagnosis of breast cancer, Teri felt the need to provide pink wigs to cancer patients, reminding them that their disease does not define who they are. Through generous donations and an annual fundraiser, the Pink Wig Project has given many wigs to Memphians in need.
