Community Outreach

Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS adopted Brewster Elementary School in 2011 to help teachers and students in need. Over the years, we have donated school uniforms and also backpacks filled with school supplies to help kids start their new school year.

Both the backpacks and the uniforms are efforts to reduce truancy at the school and to raise excitement and pride among the students as they head back to school.

Have you met beautiful Beatrice Bensdorf, our new M-B mascot? She is collecting new and gently used coats. This is our part of a MAAR project to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. The Boys & Girls Clubs serve a very important purpose in improving the future of youth in our community.

Beatrice hopes all her M-B buddies will participate by donating at least one coat, suitable for a 6-18 year old, or by making a contribution. 

Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS agent Sheldon Rosengarten and his wife Shelli fund this scholarship, awarded annually to a law student at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. The scholarship is named for Sheldon's father, Jerome, who practiced law in Memphis for 57 years. The recipient of the scholarship must be a law student whose focus is in real estate law.

Literacy Mid-South provides literacy resources for people of all ages and backgrounds, who are low-literate and seeking to improve their reading skills. Assisting more than 500 Memphians, Literacy Mid-South serves our community through the power of reading and learning.

Starting in 2010, Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS began contributing donations to the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA). MIFA supports the independence of vulnerable seniors and families in crisis. Through the food drive, our real estate agents are able to collect pantry items and monetary donations for MIFA.

The Pink Wig Project was started by Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS real estate agent Teri Trotter before her death in 2018 and seeks to provide wigs to cancer surviors at no charge. After her own diagnosis of breast cancer, Teri worked to support cancer patients, reminding them that their disease does not define who they are. Through generous donations and an annual fundraiser, the Pink Wig Project has given many wigs to Memphians in need.

Each year, Marx-Bensdorf and team join the Fight On: Cycle. Run. Walk. event held by West Cancer Center to support cancer patients and to honor our friend and colleague Teri Trotter.

For many years, Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS has served as sponsor for the Children's Museum of Memphis' annual fundraising drive. We are proud to raise awareness of and support for the Children's Museum, as they need these vital funds for daily operations, new exhibits, and exciting programs for kids.

For the past 10 years, Marx-Bensdorf, REALTORS agent Diane Benson Malkin has actively served as a mentor and advisory board member with the Memphis Institute for Leadership Education (MILE) Program. MILE is a mentoring and leadership development program for Fogelman College of Business and Economics students at the University of Memphis.

The program is designed to develop future Mid-South leaders through educational lectures, job shadowing, practice interviews, networking events, community service and more. We're very fortunate to have agents like Diane Benson Malkin who are so invested in the future of our Greater Memphis community.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation works to put smiles on the faces of children with life-threatening diseases by granting them their greatest wishes. Since 1980, the foundation has helped make more than 315,000 wishes come true with the help of their partners and donations from people all over the world. 

Marx-Bensdorf is one of the many organizations that helps grant the wishes of these children. We love being a small part of something big.

Marx-Bensdorf works with SRVS Memphis by donating office furniture to their foundation. SRVS works with individuals with disabilities and strives to help them live significant lives in their communities. The foundation helps individuals of all ages learn and grow by providing them with schooling, therapy, job placement, and more. We are proud to stand beside such an incredibly meaningful foundation like SRVS.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital works to prevent and find cures for children with life-threatening diseases all across the world. With their passionate dedication, St. Jude has helped the survival rate of children with cancer increase drastically since the 1960s. With the donations and support from individuals and organizations like Marx-Bensdorf, St. Jude is able to care for children without their family ever receiving a bill.

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal disease that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, causing individuals to suffer from the inability to speak, swallow, walk, and other functions. The Walk to Defeat ALS is held in all 50 states multiple times per year to raise money and awareness for ALS. 

Marx-Bensdorf helps raise awareness for ALS by participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. We are passionate about finding a cure for this disease.

Marx-Bensdorf is proud to work alongside the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by supporting and participating in their half marathon fundraiser. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society was created in the late 1940s as a non-profit organization that dedicates its time and resources to funding the research of blood cancer. LLS also serves patients by providing them with an education they may not have access to elsewhere.
